The Neurosurgeon
Duties and Responsibilities: These surgeons do surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumors. They treat disorders of the nervous system.They also use surgery to relieve hydrocephalus, the abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. Brain surgeons may focus on the corrections of deformities and treatment of diseases of the spinal cord. They need to require an excellent hand and eye coordination and concentration.
Salary: $559,225 per year.
Education: Medical degree, they must complete four years of undergraduate school, also four years of medical school. Then they take 6-7 years of neurosurgical residency training. They also complete 42 months training in core clinical neurosurgery. They need to be licensed by the state; they have the option of a certificate by the american board of neurologic surgery.
Demand for profession: They are willing to do surgery on people and save their lives from the diseases or problems they have.
