“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and i can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard i want to work and I decided that I would change it” -Dr. Ben Carson
This quote is saying that poverty is something chat can be changed and solved, it just depends on what you do and how hard you work to change it. He is saying that is was never a something that couldn’t be taken away, it’s something he could change and made things better for him. He had to work hard so he wouldn’t hate poverty, if he didn’t poverty would’ve followed him his whole life. It’s about working hard and getting what you want without someone telling you, you can’t. You showed hard work so that you can make you’re own choices and not depend on someone. Carson thought he was the worst and that he didn’t know anything in his class, but he actually did. He just didn’t put much effort in what he was doing. That’s why he never knew what he was doing until his mom made him know what he was doing. She made him stop watching tv all day and make him read. He realized that he did know what he was doing just that he never showed effort and time in what he was doing.
